| General update (Upgrade and heart ache...literally) | N/A | I just got over a similar experience. For about 3 weeks my heart rate was unusually elevated during rides and my power was way down. The fatigue that I felt was, as you described, not the normal "I'm tired and I need to push through this". Rather, I felt like pulling over and taking a nap. After a few weeks I started to worry that I had something serious - did a few "self exams" on the family jewels, researched my symptoms on the Internet and finally diagnosed my self with Hepatitis (liver failure). I call this "performance related dimentia". It all suddenly cleared up on Friday last week and I went on to have a great race at CBR Finals. Bottom line.....I just had a stinking virus. Not the kind that takes you out and puts you in bed, but bad enough that my riding really sucked for 3 weeks. BTW - I have experienced overtraining and this was not the same. |
